However, with the right tools and a little elbow grease, you can easily get your Grill ready for dinner in no time. Join the Gather Grills Founder, Jed Strange, as he walks through the process of cleaning the Tailgater Gather Grill in the video below.

The Proper Tools for the Job

There are some pretty basic tools that we recommend for cleaning your Grill that you may already have as a part of your setup. If you don’t, tough, we’ve linked a few below that we find pretty essential to your Grill toolset.

Step-By-Step Cleaning the Gather Grill

If you don’t have time to check out the video above, we’ll quickly run-through the essential steps for cleaning the Gather Grill so you can be fully prepared next time you’re ready to get grillin’.

1. Clean the Griddle

Grab one of your flat spatulas and start the process of cleaning the Griddle. Start by scrapping the Griddle and removing any excess food / grease leftover from the last cook (make sure you get the corners as well). Pour some water and wipe the Griddle down as best you can (put a little elbow grease in it)! After that, you’re pretty much ready to rock and roll.

2. Clean the Bar Grate

The Grill Brush is your best friend here! Grab it, press down as hard as you can on the bar grate, and start scrapping all that gunk away.

3. Clean the Inner Ring (The Rotating One)

Utilizing the same tools from the Griddle cleaning, scrape off the Inner Ring to the best of your ability (Hint: Remember, the ring rotates… So you don’t have to walk around the Grill to clean it.)

4. Clean Out the Ashes (Easier w/ Ash Pan)

Pull out both of the Charcoal Grates, making sure to dump any remaining ashes into the bottom of the bowl. From here, bring a trash can / bag close to the Grill and use any sort of cup or bowl to scoop out the ashes and throw them away. Utilizing an Ash Pan will get you 90% of the way there as it acts as a catch for all your ashes at the bottom of the bowl.

5. Clean Up the Ball Bearings for a Better Spin

You can do this one of two ways to get these ball bearings clean. Number 1: Remove the wing nuts from the bottom of the ball bearings and take them inside to wash in the sink with soap and water. Number 2: Bring out the soap and water to the ball bearings and wash them while they’re still attached to the Grill. Either way works, but if they’re really gunky you may be best bring them to the sink. (Hint: Spray some cooking oil on the ball bearings and it’ll help get that “like new” spin right back!)

6. Reassemble the Gather Grill and Get to Cookin’!

This is a fairly self explanatory step. Place all the pieces back in the Grill and get ready to cook some incredible food for your friends and family!

About us

When Jed Strange bought a fire pit in February of 2020, he had no idea that it was about to inspire him to create one of the most innovative multi-function outdoor cooking devices available today.

With the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown closing operations at Strange Farms, a family-run corporate and private retreat venue, Jed found himself with some extra time on his hands. He sat down and looked at his new fire pit. His goal of gathering people around it physically was put on hold, but the desire for connection remained.
